Notes from Peru

Hi friends,
I am in Peru, on a lovely adventure that is unfolding day by day. Have images and comments to share but I thought a central location might help for those who are curious.

The trip came about after I read a book “Initiation” by Elizabeth B Jenkins. The book shares the author’s experiences from maybe 30 years ago on her first trip to Peru, seeking knowledge about the Andean tradition of spiritual practices. Thru trial and error and persistance, she did connect with a teacher. The second half of her book describes the ceremonies she experiences with teachers from the Q’ero tradition in and around Cusco, Peru and Machu Picchu.

Notes on the Q’erolink to wiki page might be a nice, concise overview

https://sunimoon.net/being-invited-in/I have always wanted to see Machu Picchu but not as just a tourist. But I never found a “connection” that felt right for me. I learned that Elizabeth formed a non-profit after she returned from Peru… Wiraqocha Foundation. Thru the non-profit, she leads trips to recreate her experience with the Q’ero for others, taking groups of interested souls to Peru for the past 30 years. Part of the profit from the trips support the well-being of the native people- fresh water, medical care, education in English to help the tribe have a better way to connect with others as they wish.

Needless to say, I scraped together funds and signed up. The trip with the Wiraqocha Foundation group begins on Saturday. Until then, I’m getting acclimated to altitude and getting to know Peru.

I’m not sure the best way to organize this segment of the blog. To avoid the endless scrolling down one page that we had when I was in Costa Rica, I”ll try separate entries. Follow along if you like.

Have fun!
