Expect to be _____

As you step into a new day, what do you feel? What expectations do you always carry with you? Do you expect to succeed, to be well, to be filled with joy?
Sometimes we get in habits as we begin the day. You may have a habit you love, starting happy, fresh and free. If not, read on.
How we start the day has a lot to do with what kind of day we experience. Concern, worry or fear is no way to begin anything. When you open your eyes to the new day and stretch a little, think of something that puts a smile on your face.
You may not feel like a naturally positive, optimistic person. However, “researchers have reviewed the results of over 80 studiesto look for common findings. They found optimismhad a remarkable impact on physical health. The study examined overall longevity, survival from a disease, heart health, immunity, cancer outcomes, pregnancy outcomes, pain tolerance, and other health topics.” So… might be well worth your effort to start shifting your approach to the day.
You brain is retrainable. If you’re in the habit of waking up to worry or dread, change is possible. A new more positive approach to the day feels weird at first.  But in time, you build new neural pathways that can create new habitual thinking for you.
Try starting the day expecting joy, expecting wellness, expecting abundance, expecting success. It may feel phony at first but practicing makes these positive expectations stronger. Face the day expecting whatever you deeply desire and in time, step by step, your joys will find you. It’s not magic or instantaneous. Expecting good becomes a way of life that will change you and the world.
